(Part 17 of 25)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0134 Artistic concordism is doing the same thing that Ross&#8217;s &#8220;moderate concordism&#8221; is doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is generating a variation of the empirio-schematic judgment, by proposing a semiotic disciplinary language (<em>relation,<\/em>thirdness) that brings Peirce&#8217;s typology of natural signs (<em>what ought to be,<\/em>&nbsp;secondness) into relation with correspondences between Scriptural text and the relevant science (<em>what is,<\/em>&nbsp;firstness).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide40.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide40.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide40.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide40-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0135 In chapter 12, Ross debunks the idea that&nbsp;<em>the scholars of the ancient Near East<\/em>&nbsp;believed that&nbsp;<em>the firmament of the heavens<\/em>&nbsp;is a solid dome.&nbsp;&nbsp;Instead of debunking the idea, he could have applied artistic concordism as an empirio-schematic.&nbsp;&nbsp;A number of modern theologians say that the Scriptural view of the heavens as a dome is scientifically incorrect.&nbsp;&nbsp;Why?&nbsp;&nbsp;A solid dome is not the sky.&nbsp;&nbsp;Or, I meant to say, the sky is not a solid dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0136 Ah, but let me reflect upon&nbsp;<em>the correspondence between the solid dome of the heaven<\/em>s&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;<em>the sky<\/em>&nbsp;as&nbsp;<em>a phenomenon<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Applying the typology of natural signs, I would say that&nbsp;<em>the solid dome<\/em>&nbsp;(SV) stands for&nbsp;<em>the sky from the point of view of someone located on the surface of the Earth<\/em>&nbsp;(SO) on the basis of imagery.&nbsp;&nbsp;In short,&nbsp;<em>the dome of the heavens<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>an icon of the sky<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Am I missing something?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What about the sign-interpretant (SI)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0136 Aha!&nbsp;&nbsp;A scientist might think, &#8220;What truncated material and efficient causes would contribute to the sign-interpretant (SI) of this sign-relation?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, a semiotician thinks, &#8220;How would Aristotle&#8217;s four causes contribute to my appreciation of the sign-interpretant (SI) of this icon?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0137 In chapter 13, Ross discusses the use of monumental architecture by ancient civilizations (and proto-civilizations).&nbsp;&nbsp;He uses Stonehenge on England&#8217;s Salisbury Plain as an example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This example is interesting because Stonehenge, as well as other &#8220;circle-stone observatories&#8221;, are built between 4,900 and 1,800 years before Christ.&nbsp;&nbsp;If I place&nbsp;<em>a time-marker for the potentiation of civilization in the ancient Near East<\/em>&nbsp;at 7,800 years ago, then these stone circles start going up around 900 years after this marker, which I call &#8220;U0&#8242;&#8221;
