actualities<sub>2a<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0738&nbsp;<em>The mystery within neodarwinism<\/em>&nbsp;may be of interest to&nbsp;<em>those concerned about mysteries<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all, the Positivist&#8217;s judgment does not anticipate anything like this.&nbsp;&nbsp;How can terms for&nbsp;<em>two radically different models<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<em>the origins of species<\/em>&nbsp;simply be clapped together?&nbsp;&nbsp;I suppose that speech-alone talk can label anything, even mysteries&#8230; even, &#8220;neodarwinism&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, &#8220;neo&#8221; is not exactly &#8220;genetic&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genodarwinism?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps, &#8220;neodarwinism&#8221; should be called out for&nbsp;<em>what it is<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0739 Another reason why neodarwinism is incomprehensible is because the (hidden) content-level actualities<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;do not have normal contexts<sub>3a<\/sub>&nbsp;and potentials<sub>1a<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;They are the foundations<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;of situation-level potentials<sub>1b<\/sub>&nbsp;that support situation-level normal contexts<sub>3b<\/sub>&nbsp;(natural selection<sub>3b<\/sub>&nbsp;and body development<sub>3b<\/sub>).&nbsp;&nbsp;Does ecology and environment (as actualities independent of the adapting species)<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;have anything to do with DNA<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;(as the template for reproduction and cellular organization)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0740 So, how does one make biology&#8230; er, the evolution of subjective meaning on Earth&#8230; comprehensible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is&nbsp;<em>the question that the author wrestles with<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is in the title.&nbsp;&nbsp;It must have something to do with&nbsp;<em>the operations of self-reinforcing cycles<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;How does&nbsp;<em>biological meaning<\/em>&nbsp;evolve?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occasionally, mistakes do not act as impediments, but serve as empedoclements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0741 Plus,&nbsp;<em>the answer<\/em>&nbsp;may have something to do with&nbsp;<em>Peirce&#8217;s natural signs<\/em>&nbsp;and how brainless creatures behave according to&nbsp;<em>what we expect in terms of these natural signs<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;When&nbsp;<em>the behavior of brainless creatures<\/em>&nbsp;is regarded through&nbsp;<em>the lens of Peirce&#8217;s natural-sign typology,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>directionality<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>originality<\/em>&nbsp;are obvious.&nbsp;&nbsp;These obvious concepts must be indispensable for an explanation of&nbsp;<em>the evolution of subjective meaning within biological entities<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0742 Neodarwinism will not do (S, T, U).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That much is for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role of Peirce&#8217;s natural signs (V) is a guess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or, should I say, &#8220;an intelligent guess&#8221;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0751 For me, one of the pleasures of examining these chapters comes from the fact that the authors do not have&nbsp;<em>a diagram of the S&amp;T noumenal overlay<\/em>&nbsp;before them, but they write like they are fishing around for the diagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, the author does not catch, but almost hooks, a much bigger fish than neodarwinism.&nbsp;&nbsp;Indeed, directionality (the horizontal axis) and originality (the vertical axis) are built into the diagram of&nbsp;<em>the semiotic agent as a mystery,<\/em>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<em>the style of neodarwinism<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide219.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide219.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8983\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide219.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide219-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0752 Remember, the author discusses&nbsp;<em>non-human,<\/em>&nbsp;or rather,&nbsp;<em>brainless organisms<\/em>&nbsp;and ends up with&nbsp;<em>an alluring line for appreciating the evolution of meaning in the universe<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My thanks to the author for the fishing expedition.&nbsp;&nbsp;What a wonderful cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0735 How is biology&#8230;
