New streets do not parallel the old streets.\u00a0 The sewers do not align, spilling sewage into the boulevards.\u00a0 The entire city looks out of kilter.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of experts are hired to straighten out the works.\u00a0 They conclude that the beautiful compass should be standard and the old city should be abandoned.\u00a0 But the ship-owners are losing money and cannot pay for evacuation.\u00a0 Their ships are going out and not returning.\u00a0 The city verges on bankruptcy.\u00a0 Chaos threatens.<\/p>\n
