Subscripts a, b and c correspond to content<sub>a<\/sub>, situation<sub>b<\/sub>&nbsp;and perspective<sub>c<\/sub>levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The psychometric intellect<\/em>&nbsp;has a rule.&nbsp;&nbsp;That rule is not quite the same as&nbsp;<em>the mandate of<\/em>&nbsp;<em>the positivist intellect<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The positivist intellect says, &#8220;Metaphysics is not allowed.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;This constitutes a ban on Aristotle&#8217;s formal and final causes.&nbsp;&nbsp;But, what of the psychometric sciences?&nbsp;&nbsp;What do they permit?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0166 Allow me to elaborate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Natural sciences depend on &#8220;truncated&#8221; material and efficient causes, because they are necessary for mathematical and mechanical models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The social sciences fudge, as one sees with&nbsp;<em>the phenomenologist&#8217;s Positivist judgment<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Social scientists ignore metaphysics.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a result,&nbsp;<em>novel &#8220;mechanistic&#8221; models<\/em>&nbsp;reduce&nbsp;<em>observations and measurements of social phenomena<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>material and efficient causes that slyly incorporate formal and final causation<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Metaphysics<\/em>&nbsp;slips into&nbsp;<em>social science models<\/em>&nbsp;through an open backdoor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The cybernetic sciences<\/em>&nbsp;admit that metaphysics is allowed (and is not ignored).&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Formal and final causes<\/em>&nbsp;may appear in&nbsp;<em>mechanistic models of habit<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the same time, &#8220;metaphysics&#8221; changes its definition to &#8220;religious&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;So, cybernetic models are &#8220;not metaphysical&#8221;, because they are &#8220;not religious&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The psychometric sciences<\/em>&nbsp;apply&nbsp;<em>the cybernetic approach<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>the political sciences<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0167&nbsp;<em>The psychometric sciences<\/em>&nbsp;constitute&nbsp;<em>the situation-level of a three-level interscope<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Rather than ignoring metaphysics (like social sciences) or grudgingly accepting them (like cybernetics), the psychometric sciences play a language game.&nbsp;&nbsp;Metaphysical mechanisms are not &#8220;metaphysical&#8221;, therefore the label cannot apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ah, that makes sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is about politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0168 Take a look at&nbsp;<em>what ought to be<\/em>&nbsp;(secondness) and&nbsp;<em>what is<\/em>&nbsp;(firstness) for the psychometric Positivist&#8217;s judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Expertise involved in the psychometric sciences<\/em>&nbsp;is geared to&nbsp;<em>explaining observations and measurements<\/em>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<em>what people say<\/em>&nbsp;in response to&nbsp;<em>an interventionalist &#8220;sign&#8221;<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Whenever the &#8220;system&#8221;
