Noting the practices of animal breeders, Darwin claims that nature itself selects for certain properties. Nature acts as ruthlessly as human animal breeders (who kill the animals that do not satisfy expectations).&nbsp;&nbsp;&#8220;Breeder selection&#8221; becomes &#8220;natural selection&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>The trait being selected for<\/em>&nbsp;gets re-labeled as &#8220;adaptation&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;The breeder selects for a particular trait based on&nbsp;<em>some opportunity<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>That opportunity<\/em>&nbsp;becomes&nbsp;<em>the niche,<\/em>&nbsp;<em>the potential to exploit &#8216;something&#8217; independent of the adapting species<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0102 Darwin&#8217;s paradigm, is it really a model?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or is it a noumenon?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not based on observations and measurements of the animal itself, but of&nbsp;<em>what a human breeder is doing in order to um&#8230; play God with another species<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh, it is alright.&nbsp;&nbsp;The breeder is really &#8220;playing nature&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0103 Here is&nbsp;<em>a picture of the resulting two-level interscope<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide038.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide038.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide038.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Slide038-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0104 Now, Darwin&#8217;s two-level interscope should look familiar.&nbsp;&nbsp;It embodies a specifying-sign relation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using dog breeding as an example, burrows of various forest animals<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;(SV<sub>s<\/sub>) stands for the long-narrow body of the dachshund or &#8220;badger dog&#8221;<sub>2b<\/sub>&nbsp;(SO<sub>s<\/sub>) in regards to selective breeding<sub>3b<\/sub>&nbsp;of a dog able to participate in the hunting of badgers<sub>1b<\/sub>&nbsp;(SI<sub>s<\/sub>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0097 Section 2.4 concerns evolution.
