When stagecraft succeeds, my reason3a,1a<\/sub><\/em> becomes what it3a,1a<\/sub> is targeted to be<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0604 The propaganda techniques used during the First World War<\/em> left many Americans feeling betrayed.  They felt duped.  The psychometric sciences performed so well.  Too bad that the stagecraft was later shown to be exactly that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exactly what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shall I say “pure theater”?  Or, should I say “deception”?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0605 I suppose that the complainers sound like Eve, after the Fall, vexed at the cunning trick that led her into error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The serpent’s spoken words<\/em> tell her precisely what to think,<\/em> and she turns its propaganda into her own actions<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How stupid is that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0606 Another sour note<\/em> concerns the categorical nature of what I think<\/em> compared to what I say<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A categorical shift occurs, precisely mimicking the Kantian slogan, a noumenon [cannot be objectified as] its phenomena<\/em>.  Both a noumenon<\/em> (the thing itself) and its phenomena<\/em> (its observable and measurable facets) are real elements.  The contiguity between them contains a negation, so no matter how many observations and measurements one makes, one can never objectify the thing itself, <\/em>which is the subject of natural experience<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0607 However, (and this point gets confusing) the noumenon<\/em> and its phenomena<\/em> belong to the same entity.  So, the apparently real elements in Kant’s slogan<\/em> are distinctions which cannot ever be separated<\/em>.  A noumenon<\/em> does not exist without its phenomena<\/em>.  Phenomena<\/em> do not exist without their noumenon<\/em>.  Yes, both labels apply to the same entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Got that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0607 Kant’s slogan<\/em> constitutes what is<\/em> of the Positivist’s judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German philosopher, Immanuel Kant (1724-1804 AD), introduces the noumenon<\/em> in order to balance an imbalance.  Scientists are only interested in observations and measurements of what can be observed and measured, that is, phenomena<\/em>.  A century after Kant’s slogan takes shape, scientific circles<\/em> argue that they should be able to dispense with the noumenon,<\/em> the thing itself, altogether.  Veil the noumenon with scientific models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I apply this to what I think2a<\/sub>?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

0608 Yes, the distinction between what I think and what I say<\/em> compares to the distinction between a noumenon and its phenomena<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0609 What I think<\/em> may be diagrammed using the scholastic interscope for how humans think<\/em>.  Nine elements operate simultaneously to achieve a living thing, a human thought.  Imagine trying to perform that operation in a computer simulation!  What I think,<\/em> like a noumenon,<\/em> is holistic.  It<\/em> is what we (humans) evolved to do<\/em>.  It<\/em> is a subject for philosophical discourse.  It<\/em> is no accident that the transcendentals, including truth, come into play in the interscope for what I think<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I think<\/em> cannot be directly observed and measured by the psychometric sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0610 What I say<\/em> can be observed and measured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I say<\/em> is the unfolding of the perspective-level judgment<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actionable judgment goes like this.  Wisdom (or some other relation, <\/em>thirdness) brings the universality of sensations embedded within what people say<\/em> (what is,<\/em> secondness) into relation with the intelligibility of perceptions (what ought to be,<\/em> firstness).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The category-based nested form goes like this.  The normal context of wisdom, or some other transcendental3<\/sub><\/em> brings the actuality of the universality of sensation2<\/sub><\/em> into relation with the potential intelligibility of perception1<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0611 The hang-up comes when looking at the content-level actuality2a<\/sub>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I think2a<\/sub><\/em> does not match what I say2a<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

0612 The category of secondness is the realm of actuality.  So, actuality should stand out in regards to what I think<\/em> as well as what I say<\/em>.  What stands out for what I think?<\/em>  What stands out for what I say?<\/em>  They aren’t the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perception<\/em> concerns my perceptive soul<\/em> informing my reactive body<\/em>, as in phantasms generating emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sensation<\/em> is all about my active body<\/em> substantiating my sensate soul,<\/em> as in a scent generating a feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0613 So, what is the first question that a postmodern journalist asks someone about a staged event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the first question is “How do you feel about the incident?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stagecraft provokes the perception.  The survey question asks for the sensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a method to this madness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the psychometric sciences, what I think<\/em> goes with the noumenon<\/em> and what I say<\/em> corresponds to its phenomena<\/em>.  The expert3b<\/sub> builds a model of value2b<\/sub> based on observations and measurements1b<\/sub> of phenomena2a<\/sub>.  If the one of scientism3c<\/sub>sees an opportunity1c<\/sub> for that value2b<\/sub>, an empirio-normative judgment2c<\/sub> will be executed.  Another incident will occur, and now the media is already prepared with a narrative and a model, designed to overlay onto my judgments2a<\/sub>, my perceptions2a<\/sub> and my sensations2a<\/sub>, in order to to guide me as to what is the universal and intelligible thing to do3a<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0614 Twenty years after the end of the First World War, and at the opening of the Second World War, concerned Americans establish an Institute of Propaganda Analysis<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They first try to sift good from bad propaganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That does not work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
