0079 First (A), the post-truth condition, as we currently experience it, involves a frustrating inability of the expert to situate the scrappy player<\/em>.  The situation level<\/em> finds it difficult to virtually situate the content level<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the reasons<\/em> comes from the structure of the questionable box of capitalism<\/em>.  Two elements<\/em> are not included, because these two elements assume the box without question <\/em>(and that assumption is, of course, questionable).  The perspective-level actuality of success2c<\/sub><\/em> turns out to be the sign-vehicle (SVi<\/sub>) and the content-level actuality of what people say2a<\/sub><\/em> turns out to be the sign-object (SOi<\/sub>) of an interventional sign-relation, which the most upside-down sign-relation that one can imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0080 Interventional and specifying sign-relations are discussed in Razie Mah’s blogs at the end of 2023 and the start of 2024, starting in earnest with Looking at John Deely’s Book (2010) “Semiotic Animal”<\/em> (October 2023) and Looking at<\/em>Daniel Dennett’s Book (2017) “From Bacteria, To Bach and Back”<\/em> (December 2023).  Two commentaries that may be of interest are Comments on Sasha Newell’s Article (2018) “The Affectiveness of Symbols”<\/em> and Comments on Michael Tomasello’s Arc of Inquiry (1999-2019)<\/em> by Razie Mah, available at smashwords and other e-book venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0081 If the post-truth condition is working appropriately, then capitalist experts3b<\/sub> on the situation-level can say how price1b<\/sub><\/em> (SIs<\/sub>) reflects various opinions2a<\/sub><\/em> (SVs<\/sub>) in the normal context of a market3b<\/sub><\/em> (SIs<\/sub>).  The assertion (SOs<\/sub>) is perceived as value2b<\/sub><\/em>.  The easily recognized specifying sign-relation says, “Opinions2a<\/sub> <\/em>(SVs<\/sub>) stand for value2b<\/sub> <\/em>(SOs<\/sub>) in regards to the specification of price1b<\/sub> within an open <\/em>(unregulated) market3b<\/sub><\/em> (SIs<\/sub>).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, experts3b<\/sub> are not looking at all opinions2a<\/sub>.  They observe and measure only a small selection of opinions2a<\/sub>.  In particular, they register only those opinions2a<\/sub> that are relevant to building a model of value2b<\/sub>.  They call the relevant opinions, “phenomena2a<\/sub>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0082 An exemplar sign-relation<\/em> follows the specifying sign-relation<\/em>. Expertise-acknowledged value2b<\/sub> (SVe<\/sub>) is placed into perspective by the capitalist one3c<\/sub> operating on the possibilities inherent in opportunity1c<\/sub> (SIe<\/sub>), resulting in capital formation or destruction2c<\/sub> (SOe<\/sub>).  Value2b<\/sub> <\/em>(SVe<\/sub>) stands for success or failure2c<\/sub><\/em> (SOe<\/sub>) in regards to a capitalist3c<\/sub><\/em>operating on the basis of opportunity1c<\/sub><\/em> (SIe<\/sub>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Success or failure2c<\/sub> entails a judgment about whether the organization has capital or not, and what to do about it<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0083 Here is a picture of the capitalist box of the post-truth condition<\/em> operating at face value.  Expertsb<\/sub> virtually emerge from (and situate) what people think2a<\/sub><\/em> and explicitly model value2b<\/sub>.  Then, expert valuations2b<\/sub> are contextualized as opportunities1c<\/sub> by those3c<\/sub> with capital2c<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A specifying sign-relation<\/em> feeds into an exemplar sign-relation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0084 Second (B), even though the interscope for socialism and capitalism<\/em> look very similar, the expert level<\/em> is significantly different.  Order3b<\/sub><\/em> (the potential underlying the state) is and is not like a market3b<\/sub><\/em>.  Righteousness1b<\/sub><\/em> (the potential underlying an institution within the state) is and is not like price1b<\/sub><\/em>.  Finally, value2b<\/sub> <\/em>does not arise from the potential of price1b<\/sub><\/em>.  Instead, value2b<\/sub><\/em> arises from the potential of righteousness1b<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I suppose that depends on how one defines the word, “capital”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
