0745 What is the nature of the Latin term, “creatio continua”?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, for that matter, what is the nature of the Latin term, “creatio ex nihilo”?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

0746 In our current Lebenswelt,<\/em> these are spoken words.  They are explicit abstractions.  Spoken words are labels that can be attached to whatever, including the contiguity between two real elements<\/em>.  In this instance, the two real elements are explicit abstractions.  Esse_ce, being substantiating,<\/em> is like a seed.  Essence, or substantiated form,<\/em> is like a principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, seed-esse_ce<\/em> is like the esse_ce of esse_ces<\/em>.  Principle-essence<\/em> is like the essence of essences<\/em>.  The distinction between literal and metaphorical<\/em> blurs in the rarified air of explicit abstractions<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0747 In the Lebenswelt that we evolved in,<\/em> our ancestors practice hand-talk and hand-speech talk.  Hand-talk words cannot be used as labels that stick to whatever<\/em>.  Hand talk words do not permit explicit abstraction.  Hand talk words picture or point to their referents.  Hand-talk words facilitate implicit abstraction.  This is what humans evolve to do<\/em>.  We overflow with implicit abstractions.  Implicit abstractions turn out to be highly adaptive.  They operate in every social circle, family (5), intimates (5), teams (15), bands (50), communities (150), mega-bands (500) and tribes (1500).  They are built into our brains and our bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0748 The expectation that linguistic hand-talk words image or indicate their referents<\/em> is one of those adaptations that… well… becomes problematic in our current Lebenswelt. <\/em> How does one picture or point to the referent of a spoken term<\/em>such as “creatio ex nihilo” or “creatio continua”? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implicit abstraction cannot do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, this is what we do<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We immediately assume that words, including spoken words, image and indicate their referents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mechanical philosophers of the seventeenth century<\/em> attempt to routinize this innate expectation in order to firmly ground our spoken words.  They attempt to write down the code for each parole,<\/em> in terms of other parole. <\/em> They do not realize that spoken words are merely placeholders in two arbitrarily related systems of differences, parole<\/em> (talk) and langue<\/em> (mental decoding of talk).  Consequently, “enlightenment” dictionaries operate successfully only for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New parole<\/em> keep cropping up, as if out of nowhere.  Old parole<\/em> die and fall out of usage.  Even more confusing, political operatives attach novel langue<\/em> to familiar parole<\/em> in order to gain political advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spoken language evolves so rapidly that French descends from Latin in only 20 generations (1000 years).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0749 So what is a scholar to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, one way to understand any actuality2<\/sub> is to identify its normal context3<\/sub> and potential1<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider a spoken word or statement<\/em> as an actuality2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ah, Peirce’s category-based nested form<\/em> is useful in understanding how we, in our current Lebenswelt,<\/em> cope with the fact that spoken words cannot picture or point to their referents. The logics of normal context3<\/sub> include exclusion, alignment and complement.  The logics of actuality2<\/sub> include the laws of contradiction and noncontradiction.  The logics of possibility1<\/sub> are inclusive and allow contradictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A relevant category-based nested form<\/em> is developed in Razie Mah’s masterwork, How To Define the Word “Religion”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0751 Obviously, the picture is a little complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creatio ex nihilo<\/em> and creatio continua<\/em> each constitute a continuity between two real elements:<\/em> esse_ce and essence<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, when these Latin terms are spoken,<\/em> no one utters anything about esse_ce<\/em> or essence<\/em>, even though they are the real elements that these Latin terms<\/em> bind together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I am working in unknown territory, which sounds very much like a “salad” to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surely, Tabaczek is cooking up something delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0752 Now, what is the potential1<\/sub> underlying the term2<\/sub>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is my speculation for creatio ex nihilo<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clearly, the logic of firstness is inclusive and allows contradictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, this application is particularly goofy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, the potential1<\/sub> supports the actuality2<\/sub> quite well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nature <\/em>is the meaning of creation<\/em>.  Nature is present<\/em> because God <\/em>created it from nothing<\/em>.  But, nature <\/em>is not God<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0753 What about creatio continua?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, once nature is created, then continued creative (and destructive) activity continues because nature can adjust, modify, tweak, simplify, increase and diminish what it already has<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

0754 Of course, the meaning, presence and message underlying the spoken word, “creatio continua<\/em>“, exhibit a certain vulnerability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does a scientist need to posit the presence underlying the term?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the answer is “no”, then all that is needed<\/em> is to refurbish that stuffy old Latin term<\/em> into something that sounds much more modern<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How about the word, “evolution”?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
