Remember that hylomorphes belong to Peirce’s category of secondness and that the logics of secondness are that of contradiction and noncontradiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0164 So, is there a metaphor that expresses this type of contradiction?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An obvious metaphor is containment.  What is contained<\/em> cannot objectify its container<\/em>.  Wine cannot objectify its bottle.  The stomach cannot objectify Mr. Tummy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consequently, a metaphor<\/em> stands ready at hand to replace the contiguity,<\/em> [cannot be objectified as].<\/p>\n\n\n\n
