It may be also be called, “third-category morality”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If second-person morality<\/em> concerns the rights and the wrongs<\/em> that go into productivity2H<\/sub> and having fun2V<\/sub>, <\/em>in the sensible constructions of team activities,<\/em> then this third-person morality<\/em> must concern the rights and wrongs that go into something more than productivity2H<\/sub>,<\/em> such as an organizational objective2H<\/sub>,<\/em> and that go into something more than having fun2V<\/sub>,<\/em> such as the joy of being called2V<\/sub><\/em> or the satisfaction of a moral identity2V<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0522 The third-person of third-person morality<\/em> is not a third individual, as depicted in Figure 4.1.  It is a person writ large,<\/em> belonging to Peirce’s category of thirdness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third-person moralityC<\/sub> brings the actuality of second-person moralityB<\/sub> into relation with the potential of first-person moralityA<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is a picture of how each hylomorphe<\/em> associates to an element in the nested form<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0523 Now, I portray a the third-person morality of Figure 4.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Does this look familiar?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each gray figure in the preceding cartoon, if released from the “you-me” relationship of the team (in blue) and the institutional relationship (in green), could easily return to a primal world of power2H<\/sub> and affiliation2V<\/sub>.  To any person in our current Lebenswelt,<\/em> this return would be experienced as a nightmare beyond imagination<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The individuals in team-related “you-me” relations (the figures in gray) live in a world of productivity2H<\/sub> and having fun2V <\/sub>(the figures in blue).  This is the sweet spot for many in our current Lebenswelt<\/em>.  This is a world of sensible construction<\/em>.  Everything makes sense because spoken words refer to things that can be pictured or pointed to<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obviously, we all agree<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t we?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sensical things<\/em> consist in matter [substantiating] form<\/em>.  Implicit abstractions are obvious.  Explicit abstractions are technical.  And yet, the run-of-the-mill person<\/em> senses that, if there is no third-person, our world of sensible construction<\/em>may be swamped by inner conflict or external threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what is a common person<\/em> to do in our current Lebenswelt?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join a congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially, join a team<\/em> within that congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0524 Each green figure puts more than one “you-me” relation (blue figure) into perspective.  A congregation<\/em> manifests something more than productivity2H<\/sub><\/em> and something more than having fun2V<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A government agency does not.  Government does something less than productive<\/em> and something less than having fun<\/em>. Taxation<\/em> is not the same as spontaneously sharing abundance<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faith<\/em> is the more than sweet spot<\/em> for many in our current Lebenswelt<\/em>.  Faith<\/em> is a world of social construction<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, faith faces a difficulty.  Nothing makes sense, because spoken words refer to things that cannot be pictured or pointed to<\/em>.  Nonsensical things<\/em> consist in being [substantiating] form<\/em>, which seems a lot like matter [substantiating] form<\/em>, but who knows?  Beings are relational structures, which may or may not entangle matter. So, beings can be… um… difficult to comprehend, yet seem real.  Yes, spoken words<\/em> can name beings, that seem actual and support implicit abstractions<\/em>.  These implicit abstractions<\/em> then support convictions<\/em> that resist analysis through explicit abstraction<\/em> (using spoken words).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which is to say, spoken words can be misleading and slippery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And… what does that mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our current Lebenswelt,<\/em> a snake resides in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
