0501 What does the prior blog<\/em> imply?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as hand talk is concerned, the era of joint intentionality<\/em> corresponds to the evolution of sensible construction<\/em> and the era of collective intentionality<\/em> corresponds to the evolution of social construction<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0502 Social construction<\/em> is not sensible, yet, it leads to sensible constructions that otherwise would have never been imagined using sensible construction alone<\/em>.  How else can one culturally select for something more powerful than productivity2H<\/sub><\/em> and for something more worthy of affiliation than having fun2V<\/sub>?<\/em>  When it comes to communities, mega-bands and tribes, sensible thinking is not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0503 Meanwhile, know this.  As a man of science, the evolutionary anthropologist, Michael Tomasello, cannot model the natural history of human morality<\/em> using the imagery of third-person morality.  <\/em>Why?  The third-person is<\/em> not “objective, in the modern sense of the word, but “suprasubjective<\/em>” in the medieval scholastic sense of the word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the modern, “objective” is a proposition that holds despite<\/em> what any of us think of it<\/em>.  The objective proposition stands outside ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the scholastic, “suprasubjective” is a proposition that both contains and transcends the subjectivity (or attitudes of) every one of us<\/em>.  The suprasubjective proposition resides within and encompasses ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a difference.  Plus, this difference<\/em> is most apparent with explicit abstraction<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0504 In the Lebenswelt that we evolved in,<\/em> hand-talk and hand-speech talk cannot perform explicit abstraction<\/em>.  They can only facilitate implicit abstraction<\/em>.  Therefore, long-lived traditions<\/em> sustain intentional implicit abstractions<\/em> that, for example, promote the harmony of social circles<\/em> and select for individuals inclined to cogitate those collective implicit abstractions<\/em>.  Those inclined<\/em> are blessed with reproductive success<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what am I saying?  Where am I going with all this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The era of collective intentionality<\/em> must have the same relational structure as the previous eras.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, because Tomasello hides what he is trying to discern<\/em> behind the word, “objective”, the intersection is obscured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is what I expect to see<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
