or &#8220;genus&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The category-based nested forms for natural selection<sub>3H<\/sub>&nbsp;and body development<sub>2V<\/sub>&nbsp;intersect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide21.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide21-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0251 According to the masterwork,&nbsp;<em>How To Define the Word &#8220;Religion&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;(by Razie Mah, available at smashwords and other e-book venues), intersections characterize&nbsp;<em>the message underlying the word<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Intersections are mysterious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0252 Biologists are forced to deal with intersections in their subject matter. But, as scientists, they want to avoid mysteries.&nbsp;&nbsp;Consequently, the biological literature strains to show that the phenotype and the adaptation are same, even though they are not the same. But, if they not the same, then either genetics takes precedence over natural history or visa versa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0253&nbsp;<em>Tomasello&#8217;s arc of inquiry<\/em>&nbsp;says that&nbsp;<em>genetics<\/em>&nbsp;takes precedence over&nbsp;<em>natural history<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oops, I meant to say, &#8220;&#8230;phenotype<sub>2c<\/sub>&nbsp;puts adaptation<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;into perspective.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide22.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide22.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7290\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide22.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Slide22-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, I bet that he would claim that&nbsp;<em>innate cognitive developments<\/em>&nbsp;are&#8230; um&#8230; adaptations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0254 Tomasello&#8217;s arc of inquiry, starting in 1999 with the publication of&nbsp;<em>The Cultural Origins of Human Cognition<\/em>&nbsp;and ending in 2019 with the publication of&nbsp;<em>Becoming Human<\/em>, contains rich illustrations of the cognitive behavior of human newborns and infants as&#8230; well&#8230; as&#8230; a frank admission that&nbsp;<em>observations and measurements of the cognitive behaviors of great apes<\/em>&nbsp;leads to&nbsp;<em>models that do not get very far past individual intentionality<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0255 Indeed,&nbsp;<em>descriptions of the elaborate experiments<\/em>&nbsp;performed by&nbsp;<em>cognitive scientists working with great apes in captivity<\/em>&nbsp;show that apes recognize&nbsp;<em>the intentions of others<\/em>&nbsp;and&#8230; well&#8230; are not much interested in sharing&nbsp;<em>their own intentions<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Unless of course, when intentions come into conflict, as in &#8220;I got the banana and I can see that you want the banana but I&#8217;m going to eat it now.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0256 Finally, another aspect of Tomasello&#8217;s choice concerns the way that&nbsp;<em>the eras of individual, joint and collective intentionality<\/em>&nbsp;map onto the archaeological record.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Tomasello misses&nbsp;<em>the obvious connections that are rendered in this examination<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tomasello&#8217;s vision&nbsp;<\/em>elevates<em>&nbsp;phenotype&nbsp;<\/em>over&nbsp;<em>adaptation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0257&nbsp;<em>Tomasello&#8217;s vision<\/em>&nbsp;is very clever, because it situates joint attention<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;with culture<sub>2b<\/sub>&nbsp;and contextualizes culture<sub>2b<\/sub>&nbsp;with human cognitive development<sub>2c<\/sub>, which requires human culture in order to actualize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, in doing so, Tomasello&#8217;s work loses a certain&#8230; how shall I say it?&#8230; flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the flavor that everyone who opens a book about&nbsp;<em>who we are<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>how we came to be<\/em>&nbsp;wants to taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I want to put the scroll in my mouth and taste&nbsp;<em>the sweetness of mystery,<\/em>&nbsp;not the blandness of explanations that&#8230;
