(Part 15 of 16)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0086 In chapters ten (School) and eleven (Becoming Adults), the authors wrestle with 21<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;century social constructions that do not adequately conform with human adaptations that belong to&nbsp;<em>the Lebenswelt that we evolved in<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of that, contemporary grammar schools, high schools and colleges in the modern West are&#8230; um&#8230; not&nbsp;<em>what they were before 2017<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That ship has sailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On all levels, your instructors<sub>1H<\/sub>&nbsp;are now assigned<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;to inform you, the student, of an actuality<sub>2a(1V)<\/sub>&nbsp;that guides the internal dynamics of the postmodern educational system<sub>2V<\/sub>: political advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More on that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0087 Former hunters and gatherers face questions, such as, &#8220;What are schools supposed to do?&nbsp;&nbsp;Why are&nbsp;<em>the rituals of becoming an adult<\/em>&nbsp;tied to modern schools?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, children are raised by parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;But, are schools more than an extension of parental authority?&nbsp;&nbsp;Yes, they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of our evolutionary history, childhood and adolescence prepare the individual for a certain degree of specialization, characteristic of team activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0088 This allows me to propose, for the authors, an approach to include in their next book.&nbsp;&nbsp;After all, if anything, this examination shows that their guidance is the first step towards an entirely novel curriculum outside the bounds of higher education<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0089 In&nbsp;<em>the Lebenswelt that we evolved in,<\/em>&nbsp;children and adolescents are &#8220;schooled&#8221; in the ways of team activities.&nbsp;&nbsp;Plus, each individual is given opportunities to compete to join a cooperative team.&nbsp;&nbsp;Each individual is expected to exercise his or her talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is guidance by&nbsp;<em>adults who are not the parents of a child or an adolescent,<\/em>&nbsp;then that guidance opens a door to joining a team activity.&nbsp;&nbsp;Teacher and student share risks within the team.&nbsp;&nbsp;Every success benefits the team, directly, and all social circles, indirectly.&nbsp;&nbsp;These risks and benefits accrue as the team encounters the world out there (the ecology and environment).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0090 Here is a picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide36.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide36.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide36.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide36-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 36<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0091 At this point, I can see that&nbsp;<em>Heying and Weinstein&#8217;s book<\/em>&nbsp;recapitulates&nbsp;<em>an ancient paradigm,<\/em>&nbsp;within&nbsp;<em>the hypernovel world of the 21<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;century<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student says, &#8220;Guide me.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;The teacher says, &#8220;Join my team.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patronize the darkhorse podcast and join the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0091 What is team activity<sub>2<\/sub>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team activity<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is a genus-specific trait<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;that regularly entails guidance by non-parental members of a band.&nbsp;&nbsp;Team-activities<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is a single actuality<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;that contains adaptations<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;and phenotypic traits<sub>2V<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;So, I can place the term, &#8220;team activities&#8221;, into the slot for &#8220;species&#8221; in the intersection for biological evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide37.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide37.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide37.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide37-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 37<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0092 Now, I can make alterations to this intersection, based on literal and metaphorical interpretations of the elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0093 First, I alter the potentials, then the other elements of each intersecting nested form, as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The genome<sub>1b((1V)<\/sub>&nbsp;decodes DNA<sub>2a<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Similarly, one&#8217;s motivations<sub>1b<\/sub>&nbsp;decode one&#8217;s talents<sub>2a<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Talent<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;supports&nbsp;<em>an internal motivation to join a particular team<sub>1V<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>The phenotypic expression<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a desire to participate<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>To participate<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;is to belong<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;in the normal context of both individual and team development<sub>3V<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The niche<sub>1b(1H)<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>the potential of an actuality<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;that is independent of the adapting species<sub>2a(2H)<\/sub>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the actuality that is independent of all team activities?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the world out there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adaptation<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;occurs in the normal context of natural (the individual must perform the appropriate tasks) and cultural (the individual must work for the team and with other team members) selection<sub>3H<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;I call the adaptation&nbsp;<em>competing to cooperate<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;I shorten the slogan to&nbsp;<em>comp-to-coop<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Comp-to-coop<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;coheres to the definitions of direct reciprocity, indirect reciprocity and altruism. Compete-to-cooperate<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;explains their evolution.&nbsp;&nbsp;Comp-to-coop<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;emerges from (and situates) diverse potentials of the proximate niche<sub>1H<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0094 Here is a picture of the adjusted intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide38.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide38.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide38.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide38-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 38<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0095 Well, this does not look modern at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where are the desks lined up in rows, facing the instructor?&nbsp;&nbsp;Where are the threats by administrators<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;for instructors<sub>1H<\/sub>&nbsp;to tow the line of the latest trend in advocacy<sub>2a(1H)<\/sub>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at&nbsp;<em>the corrective sayings<\/em>&nbsp;that Heying and Weinstein offers as&nbsp;<em>guidance<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do not fear.&nbsp;&nbsp;Respect others.&nbsp;&nbsp;Follow fair rules.&nbsp;&nbsp;Protest unfair rules.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do not get comfortable.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do not get complacent.&nbsp;&nbsp;Take risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All these suggestions describe&nbsp;<em>the intersection of team activities<sub>2<\/sub>,<\/em>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<em>the normal context of the Lebenswelt that we evolved in<sub>3<\/sub>,<\/em>&nbsp;arising from&nbsp;<em>the potential of our talents and the world out there<sub>1<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0096 How does&nbsp;<em>the current state-supported education system<\/em>&nbsp;twist our&nbsp;<em>natural being<\/em>&nbsp;into&nbsp;<em>something that can be controlled in a top-down political regime?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It channels&nbsp;<em>the competition to cooperate<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;into&nbsp;<em>state-defined (and regulated) specializations<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;In order to gain entrance into a specialization<sub>2H<\/sub>, one must attend school and become certified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It channels&nbsp;<em>the desire to participate<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;into&nbsp;<em>state-defined (and regulated) bodies of knowledge<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;One must go to school in order to achieve certification in regards to that body of knowledge<sub>2V<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Mastery of the real<\/em>&nbsp;separates professors<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;(pre-2017) from instructors<sub>1H<\/sub>&nbsp;(post-2017).&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>State-regulated bodies of knowledge<\/em>&nbsp;may be&nbsp;<em>real<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Or,&nbsp;<em>they<\/em>&nbsp;may be&nbsp;<em>fictions that high-level administrators want to be advocated<\/em>.
