Now, let us consider the next section of Chapter 8: \u201cThe Sins of Sensuality \u2013 Lust, Fornication, Adultery and Pornography\u201d.<\/p>\n

Before modern awareness, portrayals of sex were considered immoral, reprehensible, and anathema.<\/p>\n

OK, it was bigger than that.<\/p>\n

Even thoughts about sex (totally imaginary private portrayals, so to speak) were considered immoral, reprehensible, and anathema.\u00a0 St. Anthony struggled.\u00a0 So did Augustinian monks and nuns.<\/p>\n

For centuries, \u201cbeing good\u201d meant sexual restraint, denial and suppression \u2013 with certain caveats depending on one\u2019s elite status.<\/p>\n

But somehow, the sexual act survived.\u00a0 Otherwise, we would not be here.<\/p>\n

In the modern era, psychoanalysts attacked the hypocrisy of \u201cdenouncing sexual expression\u201d while at the same time practicing the act, including adultery and masturbation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Today, the trend is to deny any intrinsic sinfulness in regards to sex, despite the fact that modern sex games may be intentionally hurtful, destructive or predatory.<\/p>\n

Better perhaps, to have an unbroken heart, like the companion to Christian, the hero of Pilgrim\u2019s Progress<\/em>.\u00a0 Her name was Faithful.\u00a0 She had integrity.\u00a0 She could be trusted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
