(Part 2 of 9)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0008 Okay, I am looking at chapter two of&nbsp;<em>Inside Putin&#8217;s Brain,<\/em>&nbsp;titled &#8220;The Enthosociological and Existential Dimensions of Dugin&#8217;s Populism&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does this title explain my blog&#8217;s title?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously, there are two dimensions to Dugin&#8217;s view of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, like &#8220;We, the People&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ethnosociological dimension addresses the question, &#8220;What is a people?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The existential dimension addresses the question, &#8220;Why is there a people?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, I move to a purely relational structure, the Greimas square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide01-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide01-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6009\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide01-1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide01-1-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 01<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A is the focal term, &#8220;people&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>B contrasts with the focal word, &#8220;people&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Here, I will put &#8220;person&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C speaks against (the transliteration of &#8220;contradict&#8221;) B and complements A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right away, I see a technical term that Dugin uses. &#8220;Narod&#8221; is a Russian word that means &#8220;people&#8221;, in an us-versus-them sort of way.&nbsp;&nbsp;Narod is distinct from individual, class, state and race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ask, &#8220;What if narod goes into C?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide02-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide02-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6010\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide02-1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide02-1-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 02<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once I put the word, &#8220;narod&#8221;, into C, the term, &#8220;person&#8221; in B, appears convoluted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According, to Dugin, the narod contradicts individual, class, state and race.&nbsp;&nbsp;Plus, when I recall about how modern academics classify each person, they tend to do so according to easily observable and measurable features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, these classifications fit into a Greimas square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide03-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide03-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6011\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide03-1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide03-1-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 03<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously,\u00a0<em>the most phenomenal feature of a person<\/em>\u00a0is that the person is\u00a0<em>an individual<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Liberalism models\u00a0<em>the phenomena of the individual<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The individual is the subject.\u00a0\u00a0<em>The phenomena of individuals<\/em>\u00a0give rise\u00a0<em>observations and measurements,<\/em>\u00a0that end up in\u00a0<em>models that liberal experts use<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Class contrasts with the focal word, &#8220;individual&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Class terms include &#8220;bourgeois&#8221; and &#8220;proletariat&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Working persons<\/em>self-identify as the latter.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Owners of various means of production<\/em>&nbsp;are accused of being the former.&nbsp;&nbsp;The pattern extends into culture, by associating &#8220;class&#8221; with&nbsp;<em>a person&#8217;s chosen identity<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Technically, class is&nbsp;<em>a style of righteousness that calls persons into organizations<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Communists<\/em>&nbsp;model&nbsp;<em>observations and measurements of social phenomena on the basis of distinctions among classes<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state contradicts (or &#8220;speaks against&#8221;) class.\u00a0\u00a0To appreciate the contradiction, replace &#8220;class&#8221; with &#8220;state&#8221; in the above technical definition.\u00a0\u00a0The state is also\u00a0<em>a style of righteousness that calls persons into organization<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0The state is\u00a0<em>an institution that is in charge of keeping peace among institutions<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Class is tied to <em>a feedback loop between institutions and persons<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0When, the state replaces class, the state confounds righteousness and social order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>State-based fascists<\/em>\u00a0model\u00a0<em>observations and measurements of social phenomena\u00a0<\/em>according to\u00a0<em>the state as arbiter of order and righteousness<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Fascists consider individuals to be citizens.\u00a0\u00a0The state (as subject) takes priority over the individual (as subject).  Hence, fascisms are called &#8220;il-liberal&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, what happens when &#8220;race&#8221; substitutes for &#8220;class&#8221; as&nbsp;<em>a style of righteousness that calls persons into organization?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, once the subject is regarded in terms of &#8220;race&#8221;, then the state decides who is free and who is a slave.\u00a0\u00a0That implies that there are two classes, &#8220;free&#8221; and &#8220;slave&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0Certain races are free and the other races are slaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oddly, the assignment of &#8220;free&#8221; or &#8220;slave&#8221; is not necessarily based on phenotypic variation among populations.&nbsp;&nbsp;But, it is often enough the case.&nbsp;&nbsp;Members of the free &#8220;race&#8221; are regarded as citizens.&nbsp;&nbsp;Members of the slave &#8220;race&#8221; are not.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thus,&nbsp;<em>race-based fascism<\/em>&nbsp;fixates on&nbsp;<em>who is a citizen<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>who is not<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Race-based fascists<\/em>&nbsp;model&nbsp;<em>observations and measurements of social phenomena&nbsp;<\/em>according to<em>&nbsp;the state serving as arbiter of who is free and who is slave<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0009 What does this apparent digression have to do with &#8220;the person&#8221; in slot B?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the narod, the Russian word for &#8220;people&#8221;, goes into slot C, then&nbsp;<em>the person in slot B<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>the person as the subject of inquiry, according to a modern science-inspired ideology<\/em>&nbsp;(B).&nbsp;&nbsp;The result may be depicted by&nbsp;<em>a Greimas square for the three political theories preceding Dugin&#8217;s proposed fourth political theory<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide04-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide04-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6012\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide04-1.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Slide04-1-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Figure 04<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0008 Okay, I am looking at chapter two of&nbsp;Inside Putin&#8217;s Brain,&nbsp;titled &#8220;The Enthosociological and Existential Dimensions of Dugin&#8217;s Populism&#8221;.
