But, remember, words are slippery beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0116 Technically, infrasovereign religions are institutions3aC<\/sub> that seek sovereign power3bC<\/sub> in order to achieve their organizational objects2aC<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theoretically, all institutions3aC<\/sub> belong to the contenta<\/sub> level of the societyC<\/sub> tier.  Every institution3aC<\/sub> stands below the sovereign3bC.<\/sub>  Plus, some of these institutions3aC<\/sub> are obviously religious.  But, they do not seek sovereign power3bC<\/sub> in order to implement their organizational objectives2aC<\/sub>.  Until, of course, they change their minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can a not infrasovereign religionaC<\/sub><\/em> become an infrasovereign religion<\/em> merely by deciding to pursue sovereign power3bC<\/sub>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, plus, an institution3aC<\/sub> that self-identifies as “not religious”<\/em> may become an infrasovereign religion<\/em> by pursuing sovereign power3bC<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, there is terminological ambiguity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0117 The Reformation (around 1500 to 1550 AD) consists of Christian factions, breaking away from a historical unity (the Catholic Church) filled with um… factions.  The act of breaking away constitutes an organizational object2aC<\/sub>.  So, break-away factions appeal to sovereign authorities3bC<\/sub> in order to establish laws2bC<\/sub> that allow the new order1bC<\/sub>.  These factions gain the label, “religions”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0118 The Reformation shows that sovereign power3bC<\/sub> virtually situates institutions3aC<\/sub>, including the new factions3aC<\/sub>.  Plus, the new factions3aC<\/sub> (as well as the old factions3aC<\/sub> that do not break away) pursue sovereign power3bC<\/sub>in order to implement their organizational objectives2aC<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0120 Sovereign power3bC<\/sub><\/em> allows an institution3aC<\/sub> to impose its objectorg<\/sup>2aC<\/sub> as order1bC<\/sub> upon those outside the institution3aC<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does this lead to?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are those outside the institution3aC<\/sub><\/em> not righteous1aC<\/sub>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0121 America’s (il)liberal big government legal system (1950 to present) offers an example.\u00a0\u00a0The discussion is difficult, because\u00a0the meanings of spoken words<\/em>\u00a0twist in\u00a0the drama of an institution3aC<\/sub>… or rather, an infrasovereign religion3aC<\/sub>,… justifying its acquisition of legal authority2bC<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, the example in primer eight<\/em> raises a weirdly foundational question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is sexual orientation identical to race?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0122 The modern (il)liberal says “yes”, because both are genetically determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Christian says “no”, because, on one hand, discrimination based on race is historically conditioned.  American slavery and Jim Crow laws are extrinsic to the person.  On the other hand, sexual orientation is personally conditioned.  Homosexual activity involves personal choice.  These choices are intrinsic to the person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

0123 The clash of these two worldviews<\/em> provides a frame for appreciating how both homosexual activists and Christian believers<\/em> operate as religions.  The former is an infrasovereign religion.  The latter is not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
