{"id":5686,"date":"2022-10-07T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-07T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=5686"},"modified":"2022-06-09T21:46:49","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T21:46:49","slug":"looking-at-loren-haarsmas-book-2021-when-did-sin-begin-part-17-of-21%ef%bf%bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=5686","title":{"rendered":"Looking at Loren Haarsma&#8217;s Book (2021) &#8220;When Did Sin Begin&#8221; (Part 17 of 21)\ufffc"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0112 Two nested forms intersect for&nbsp;<em>our current Lebenswelt<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A theological transition<sub>3V<\/sub>&nbsp;brings the doctrine of original sin<sub>2V<\/sub>&nbsp;into relation with the noumenal potential of Genesis 2:4-11<sub>1V<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A natural transition<sub>3H<\/sub>&nbsp;brings a twist in human evolution<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;into relation with the phenomenal potential of an adaptive cultural change<sub>1H<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0113&nbsp;<em>The twist in human evolution<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;is described in&nbsp;<em>the hypothesis of the first singularity<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a synopsis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Language evolves in&nbsp;<em>the milieu of hand talk<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Speech talk is added to hand talk with the appearance of anatomically modern humans (over 200,000 years ago).&nbsp;&nbsp;Hand-speech talk is practiced through the Paleolithic and into the Neolithic.&nbsp;&nbsp;The semiotic qualities of hand-speech talk favor constrained social complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first culture to practice speech-alone talk is the Ubaid of southern Mesopotamia (starting around 7,800 years ago).&nbsp;&nbsp;At the time, all other Neolithic, Mesolithic and Epipaleolithic cultures practice hand-speech talk.&nbsp;&nbsp;Because the semiotic qualities of speech-alone talk unconstrains social complexity, labor and social specialization prospers during the Ubaid.&nbsp;The surrounding (hand-speech talking) cultures see it.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Ubaid exhibits increasing wealth and power.&nbsp;&nbsp;Plus, all the surrounding cultures need to do, in order to imitate the Ubaid, is to drop&nbsp;<em>the hand-talk component of their hand-speech talk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speech-alone talk spreads from the Ubaid through imitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0114&nbsp;<em>The twist in human evolution<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;permits increasing&nbsp;<em>labor and social complexity<sub>1H<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But,&nbsp;<em>the semiotic qualities of speech-alone talk<\/em>&nbsp;also makes<em>&nbsp;the cultural adaptations of the Lebenswelt that we evolved in<\/em>nonsensical.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though we innately expect our (hand talk) words to image and point to their referents, in&nbsp;<em>our current Lebenswelt,<\/em>&nbsp;we project meaning, presence and message into our (spoken) words, then construct artifacts that validate those projections.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can a tradition in hand-speech talk be translated into speech-alone talk?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It cannot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0112 Two nested forms intersect for&nbsp;our current Lebenswelt.
