Yet it does, otherwise Haarsma would not write a book about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haarsma&#8217;s titular question<sub>2V<\/sub>, &#8220;When did sin begin?&#8221;, should place&nbsp;<em>the hypothesis of the first singularity<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;side by side with&nbsp;<em>the doctrine of original sin<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, since Haarsma is not aware of&nbsp;<em>the hypothesis of the first singularity,<\/em>&nbsp;the term, &#8220;human evolution&#8221;, goes into the slot for actuality<sub>2H<\/sub>&nbsp;for the normal context of natural change<sub>3H<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This does not work, of course, and leads to a winding path, back to&nbsp;<em>the crucial intersection between the first singularity<sub>2V<\/sub>and original sin<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0039 The path starts by asking, &#8220;What contributing actuality<sub>2V<\/sub>, in a theological framework<sub>3V<\/sub>, corresponds to human evolution, as Haarsma discusses the topic?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer comes from Thomas Aquinas&#8217;s suggestion that original sin is the lack of original justice.&nbsp;&nbsp;Original justice is entangled with human evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Slide11-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Slide11-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Slide11-3.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Slide11-3-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Figure 11<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0040 If&nbsp;<em>human evolution<sub>2H<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;is one of the actualities in an intersection, the corresponding actuality is not original sin<sub>2H<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The corresponding actuality is really&nbsp;<em>the stuff of the Creation Story<sub>2V<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The structure of Haarsma&#8217;s text<\/em>&nbsp;validates this suggestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter four, titled, &#8220;Human Evolution&#8221;, is preceded by chapter three, &#8220;Suffering and Death Before Humans&#8221;, and followed by chapter five, &#8220;The Soul, the Imago Dei and Special Divine Action&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Chapters three and five point to Genesis 1:26-31.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0038 I summarize.
