(Part 4 of 10)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0023&nbsp;<em>Kulikovsky&#8217;s section on biblical inerrancy<\/em>&nbsp;opens&nbsp;<em>questions of epistemology.<\/em>&nbsp;Epistemology concerns Scripture and the problem of interpretation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Epistemology is the&nbsp;<em>logos<\/em>&nbsp;(word) of&nbsp;<em>episteme<\/em>&nbsp;(knowledge).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have already encountered two contrasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;The first is&nbsp;<em>truth versus falsehood,<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>correct versus incorrect<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The second is&nbsp;<em>truth versus deception<\/em>, or&nbsp;<em>honest versus deceptive<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0024 How does the talking serpent in Genesis 2:4-4 fit into this picture?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Science can prove that serpents do not speak, except, of course, for some of my old bosses and co-workers, if you catch my drift.&nbsp;&nbsp;This proof goes into B1b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also,&nbsp;<em>the appearance of the talking serpent in the stories of Adam and Eve<\/em>&nbsp;must be figurative, not real.&nbsp;&nbsp;But, the text depicts&nbsp;<em>a real character<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;So,&nbsp;<em>the talking serpent<\/em>&nbsp;is a fiction&#8230;
