{"id":4890,"date":"2021-04-09T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=4890"},"modified":"2022-05-07T23:31:31","modified_gmt":"2022-05-07T23:31:31","slug":"looking-at-jeff-hardins-essay-2019-biology-and-theological-anthropology-part-12-of-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=4890","title":{"rendered":"Looking at Jeff Hardin&#8217;s Essay (2019) &#8220;Biology and Theological Anthropology&#8221; (Part 12 of 15)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0063 What about&nbsp;<em>the disciplines of modern psychology and sociology?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do they labor as word-smiths, hammering out the spoken words that will address&nbsp;<em>the tsunami of concupiscence-related disorders that currently plague modern society,<\/em>&nbsp;or do they construct spoken words that thwart&nbsp;<em>an evangelical&#8217;s desire to hear a sermon on Original Sin?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all,&nbsp;<em>lectures on concupiscence<\/em>&nbsp;are not justified in&nbsp;<em>a Zeitgeist where concupiscence is labeled &#8220;natural&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0064 Surely, secular experts justify various features of our current Zeitgeist&#8230; er&#8230; regime, just like they previously (and maybe still do) labored to account for various flavors of mercantilism, various strains of fascism, and various manifestations of communism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These ideologies all build on&nbsp;<em>foundations of spoken words<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>specialized disciplinary languages<\/em>&nbsp;fashioned by&nbsp;<em>academically certified agents<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0065&nbsp;<em>Spoken words<\/em>&nbsp;can (somehow) create&nbsp;<em>the artifacts that validate spoken words<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to&nbsp;<em>make that happen<\/em>&nbsp;is with sovereign power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Spoken words<\/em>&nbsp;can generate&nbsp;<em>the righteousness underlying an organizational objective<\/em>&nbsp;that will allow me (and my fellow travelers) to demand&nbsp;<em>sovereign action<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Then,<em>&nbsp;the state<\/em>&nbsp;implements&nbsp;<em>my organizational objective,<\/em>&nbsp;thereby validating&nbsp;<em>the righteousness that my spoken words advocated<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to get around that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0066 An example?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May I call the current regime: &#8220;big government (il)liberalism&#8221;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some would call it, &#8220;the administrative state&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Big government (il)liberalism<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>the latest sovereign solution<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>the nasty consequences of an enlightened disposition<\/em>, declaring, &#8220;<em>Concupiscence<\/em>&nbsp;is okay, because it is&nbsp;<em>natural<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Tolerance&#8221; is key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Big government experts must be tolerant in order to better manage the citizen&#8217;s natural proclivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0067 So, the word, &#8220;liberal&#8221; has been perverted from&nbsp;<em>a focus on freedom and responsibility<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>a fixation on nonjudgment<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prefix, (il), celebrates this inversion, because&nbsp;<em>managing citizens<\/em>&nbsp;is the negation of&nbsp;<em>serving them<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0068 Isn&#8217;t that&nbsp;<em>what the word, &#8220;government&#8221;,<\/em>&nbsp;ought to mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the citizens are going to do what&#8217;s natural, then someone must clean up the mess.&nbsp;&nbsp;What does that mean?&nbsp;&nbsp;Someone must control the citizens, in order to ameliorate the mess that they would produce, if left to their own natures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Er&#8230; not someone, something.&nbsp;&nbsp;Something&nbsp;<em>big<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0069 In a world where government is omnipresent, the message comes across loud and clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look at your television and listen to the talking heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are here to justify your concupiscence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are here to manage the consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please comply with current directives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0063 What about&nbsp;the disciplines of modern psychology and sociology?
