{"id":4878,"date":"2021-04-15T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=4878"},"modified":"2022-05-07T23:30:48","modified_gmt":"2022-05-07T23:30:48","slug":"looking-at-jeff-hardins-essay-2019-biology-and-theological-anthropology-part-7-of-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=4878","title":{"rendered":"Looking at Jeff Hardin&#8217;s Essay (2019) &#8220;Biology and Theological Anthropology&#8221; (Part 7 of 15)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>0036 Human evolution comes with a twist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What insights do we have from the Bible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0037 First, there are two origins depicted in Genesis.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Creation Story covers Genesis 1:1-2.3.&nbsp;&nbsp;The stories of Adam and Eve start at Genesis 2.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both comport with&nbsp;<em>the style and content of ancient Near East texts<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0038 Second,&nbsp;<em>those in Abraham&#8217;s tradition<\/em>&nbsp;treat both origin stories as real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Creation Story justifies the Sabbath as a day of rest, as codified by Moses.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stories of Adam and Eve, in contrast, suddenly come into the limelight when St. Paul connects the Jewish revelation, fulfilled in Christ, to all humanity, all the way back to Adam.&nbsp;&nbsp;Adam is where Jews and Gentiles converge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0039 What does this imply?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bible conveys&nbsp;<em>the noumenon of a recent prehistoric change, the first singularity, that alters the course of human evolution<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0040 There are two origin stories in the Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps, to evolutionary scientists,&nbsp;<em>the leisurely day-to-day development in Genesis One<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a better analogy to the origin of our world and ourselves<\/em>, than&nbsp;<em>the bizarre abrupt manufacturing scenes in the stories of Adam and Eve<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time,&nbsp;<em>the surprising fairy-tale construction of Adam and Eve<\/em>&nbsp;testifies that&nbsp;<em>the evolutionary scientists<\/em>&nbsp;miss&nbsp;<em>a crucial turn of events.&nbsp;&nbsp;All the written origin myths of the ancient Near East<\/em>&nbsp;concur with&nbsp;<em>the stories of Adam and Eve<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Humans are recent creations by the divine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0041 Does Jeff Hardin call for new models of human evolution in light of both science and the Bible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suspect he does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He does\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0go so far as to call for\u00a0<em>a new empirio-schematic judgment<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, he is certainly not shutting the door.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0036 Human evolution comes with a twist?
