Mysteries&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;My guess is that he intends to proceed through these three topics using insights from Jungian psychology.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is good, but not complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jungian psychology addresses essence.&nbsp;&nbsp;Longenecker may argue that if the essence is convincing, in terms of patterns of the human psyche, then esse_ce needs not be actual.&nbsp;&nbsp;He may argue this even though his previous independent research locates the magi, not as Persians, but as traders living between Persia and Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0083 Myth has a hylomorphic structure, requiring attention to both esse_ce and essence.&nbsp;&nbsp;Without substance, the myth becomes a fantasy (pure essence) as opposed to a historical documentary (pure esse_ce).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0084 The doctrine of original sin rests on&nbsp;<em>the esse_ce and essence of the Genesis stories of Adam and Eve<\/em>, even though they are fairy tales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Augustine paints Adam and Eve as the first humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The hypothesis of the first singularity<\/em>&nbsp;pictures Adam and Eve as&nbsp;<em>fairy tale figures that encapsulate<\/em>&nbsp;<em>the theodramatic appearance of the Ubaid culture<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Speech-alone talk<\/em>&nbsp;is realized and sets the Ubaid on&nbsp;<em>an irreversible course towards unconstrained social complexity<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0085 In terms of mystery, a single actuality forms out of two.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>The Lebenswelt that we evolved in<\/em>&nbsp;intersects&nbsp;<em>with our current Lebenswelt<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure is&nbsp;<em>a world of mysteries<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ours is&nbsp;<em>a world of monsters<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ours is&nbsp;<em>a world of myths<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0088&nbsp;<em>A grain of monsters that Jesus brings into one<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roman rule<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is all about state power.&nbsp;&nbsp;State power maintains order<sub>1<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jewish legalism<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is all about the routinization of righteousness<sub>1<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Legalities<sub>2<\/sub>confer righteousness in the eyes of God<sub>1<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus Christ stands as&nbsp;<em>the single actuality<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;containing Roman rule<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;and Jewish legalism<sub>2<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>This intersection<\/em>&nbsp;serves as&nbsp;<em>the starting point for all political theology<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;In Roman rule<sub>2<\/sub>, the state does not serve the people.&nbsp;&nbsp;In Christian political theology, it does.&nbsp;&nbsp;In Jewish legalism, the deed does not stand for the intention<sub>1<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;In Christian ethics, it does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus is&nbsp;<em>the one who tames the two monsters of state and church<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>One without the other<\/em>&nbsp;leads to catastrophe.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Both without Jesus<\/em>&nbsp;leads to devastating conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0090 In sum,&nbsp;<em>political theology<\/em>&nbsp;transforms&nbsp;<em>one of the mysteries of Jesus Christ<\/em>&nbsp;into&nbsp;<em>a hylomorphism, a thing to be discussed essence<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myths offer monsters to perceive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our perception of monsters<\/em>&nbsp;allows us to appreciate&nbsp;<em>imbalances between esse_ce and essence<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0075 The most horrifying monsters are articulated in the modern era.&nbsp;&nbsp;They are existence<sup>0<\/sup>&nbsp;(<em>esse_ce without substance<\/em>) and form<sup>0<\/sup>&nbsp;(<em>essence without substance<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are not confined to the modern era.&nbsp;&nbsp;Indeed, they have been here since the beginning.&nbsp;&nbsp;They include Roman rule<sub>2<\/sub>and Jewish legalism<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The life and passion of Jesus Christ<\/em>&nbsp;takes on&nbsp;<em>the characteristics of myth<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jesus brings two historic monsters into&nbsp;<em>a single actuality<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jesus both contains and transcends these&nbsp;&nbsp;monsters.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jesus serves as their intersection.&nbsp;&nbsp;All roads lead through Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Political theology brings this mystery back into Aristotle&#8217;s hylomorphism.&nbsp;&nbsp;The mystery becomes a field of inquiry.&nbsp;&nbsp;That inquiry is called, &#8220;political theology&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0076 This concludes my comments on Fr. Dwight Longnecker&#8217;s Podcast (2020) on myths, monsters and mysteries.The progression from myths to monsters to mysteries constitutes a profound insight that inspires these comments.&nbsp;&nbsp;My gratitude for Fr.
