{"id":436,"date":"2013-05-31T03:14:27","date_gmt":"2013-05-31T03:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=436"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:22","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:22","slug":"thoughts-on-sin-by-ted-peters-1994-self-justification-6j","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=436","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Sin by Ted Peters (1994) Self-Justification 6J"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>God is righteous.\u00a0 In order to justify<sup>divine<\/sup> any act as righteousness, one has to step out of oneself and weigh the act using criteria established by a Total Other: God.<\/p>\n<p>Revelation establishes God\u2019s criteria.\u00a0 The revelation itself cannot be questioned, especially when it comes as a Book.\u00a0 The Book is what it is.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the interpretation of the Book can be questioned.\u00a0 For example, Moderns interpret the Bible as \u201cmyth\u201d (\u201cfable\u201d, \u201cconjured\u201d and so on).\u00a0 One cannot prove or disprove this interpretation, or any interpretation, for that matter.\u00a0 One can, however, find consensus.<\/p>\n<p>Each consensus-interpretation constitutes an element in a symbolic order that, in turn, supports particular social constructions.<\/p>\n<p>The Modern consensus that \u201cthe Bible is myth\u201d undermines the social constructions of Christianity and overmines the social constructions of various alternate cults, especially the Public Cult of Progressivism and the private cults of New Age and Satanic Magic.<\/p>\n<p>Modern enthusiasts say \u201cabandon the Bible as Revelation\u201d and \u201caccept <em>Das Kapital<\/em> as Revelation\u201d.\u00a0 But which is more mythic, \u201cthe Stories of Eve and Adam\u201d or \u201cthe theory of surplus capital\u201d?\u00a0 See Thomas Sowell\u2019s book, <em>Marxism<\/em>, on that one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>God is righteous.\u00a0 In order to justifydivine any act as righteousness, one has to step out of oneself and weigh the act using criteria established by a Total Other: God.
