{"id":420,"date":"2013-05-21T03:07:33","date_gmt":"2013-05-21T03:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=420"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:22","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:22","slug":"thoughts-on-sin-by-ted-peters-1994-self-justification-6b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=420","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Sin by Ted Peters (1994) Self-Justification 6B"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adam and Eve tried to justify<sup>self<\/sup> when that brutal Father-figure suddenly appeared and asked: What the hell is going on here?\u00a0 Adam blamed Eve.\u00a0 Eve blamed the serpent.\u00a0 The serpent was left speechless.<\/p>\n<p>Their finite end was to \u201cavoid responsibility\u201d.\u00a0 Yet, at that moment of confession, \u201cavoiding responsibility\u201d took on the quality of transcendence.\u00a0 Everything hinged on that goal, just like everything hinges on getting that next concupiscent fix.\u00a0 If the kind and understanding Father-figure had just said: \u201cOh, then it is not your fault.\u201d, then what would have happened?\u00a0 What was the transcendent end of Paradise?<\/p>\n<p>Did the serpent know?\u00a0 Or was the serpent simply elevating its own finite ends (of the pleasure of spoiling God\u2019s Paradise) to its own transcendent end (of rebellion)?<\/p>\n<p>The serpent appears even weirder if we imagine that it was \u201cthe projection of Eve\u2019s unconscious thoughts\u201d.\u00a0 At the moment that Eve disengaged, it lost its voice, yet it remained in all its scaly actuality.\u00a0 Was it the embodiment of Eve\u2019s concupiscence, crawling, belly upon the ground, like some sort of animated limbic system and brainstem or some sort of bureaucratic memento from Hell?\u00a0 Or was it the embodiment of Eve\u2019s justification<sup>self<\/sup>?<\/p>\n<p>Did the serpent not justify Eve\u2019s own unconscious thoughts?<\/p>\n<p>Was there not a moment of justification<sup>self<\/sup> before Eve ate the forbidden fruit?<\/p>\n<p>And did God not curse the serpent first and foremost?<\/p>\n<p>Upon your belly you shall go.<\/p>\n<p>I will put enmity between her seed and your seed.<\/p>\n<p>Her seed will bruise your head and you shall strike their heels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam and Eve tried to justifyself when that brutal Father-figure suddenly appeared and asked: What the hell is going on here?\u00a0 Adam blamed Eve.\u00a0 Eve blamed the serpent.\u00a0 The serpent was left speechless.
