{"id":382,"date":"2013-04-30T02:01:39","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T02:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=382"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:38","slug":"thoughts-on-sin-by-ted-peters-1994-pride-4j","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=382","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Sin by Ted Peters (1994) Pride 4J"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Original Sin is a condition of disorientation that is the consequence of the loss of sanctifying grace that accompanied the Fall (as told in the mythic stories of Eve and Adam).\u00a0 Faith<sup>UnChristian<\/sup> in \u201cmy own <em>xiety<\/em>\u201d manifests this disorientation.<\/p>\n<p>Baptism \u2013 the restoration of sanctifying grace \u2013 is the gateway to finding the <em>xiety<\/em> that God has given me.\u00a0 The <em>xiety<\/em> that God has given me reflects the principle that binds my soul to my body and thereby orients me.\u00a0 That principle is \u201cGod\u2019s creative activity in binding my soul to my body\u201d.\u00a0 It has the structure of a \u201cgift\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>My anxiety, as a Christian, is the fear of the loss of that gift.\u00a0 I fear the loss of the creative act that binds my soul to my body.\u00a0 I fear becoming a soulless automaton, like a psychopath, a person filled with rage, a member of a totalitarian cult, and any of the characters that Peters described in Chapters 2, 3 and 4 of his book on <em>Sin<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Original Sin is a condition of disorientation that is the consequence of the loss of sanctifying grace that accompanied the Fall (as told in the mythic stories of Eve and Adam).\u00a0 FaithUnChristian in \u201cmy own xiety\u201d manifests this disorientation.
