{"id":314,"date":"2013-03-19T01:21:30","date_gmt":"2013-03-19T01:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=314"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:39","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:39","slug":"thoughts-on-sin-by-ted-peters-1994-anxiety-2a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=314","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Sin by Ted Peters (1994) Anxiety 2A"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first step to radical evil is anxiety.\u00a0 When I see an <em>an-<\/em> words, like <em>anhydrous<\/em>, which means \u201cwithout water\u201d, I conjure that the word means \u201cwithout \u2018something\u2019\u201d.\u00a0 Anxiety, then, would be \u201cwithout <em>xiety<\/em>\u201d, where \u201c<em>xiety<\/em>\u201d means \u201canything that you can lose\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>Xiety<\/em> is space, time, existence, life, your mind, your lover, your parents, your children, your future, your job, your money, your reputation \u2026 anything that you might say, after its loss, \u201cgive that back to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anxiety can drive anyone crazy.\u00a0 How can one get a reputation back?\u00a0 What about \u201cone\u2019s sense of security\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u201cus versus them\u201d, when it comes to anyone who can mess with your <em>xiety<\/em>.\u00a0 Employees bitch about their boss behind her back because, well, just because she can mess with their <em>xiety<\/em>.\u00a0 When the boss asks if anything is the matter, everyone says, \u201cEverything is fine\u201d.\u00a0 This is how the bittersweet elixir of \u201ccalumny\u201d soothes employees\u2019 anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>The American \u201cchildren of the sixties\u201d secretly despised their parents because they had defeated evil.\u00a0 They were heroes.\u00a0 They had saved Western Civilization.\u00a0 Even though no one bragged about it, the lesson was clear.\u00a0 Dad\u2019s \u201creputation\u201d meant that \u201cI was not important\u201d.\u00a0 Hell, Western Civilization was just a piece of crap anyway.\u00a0 Pass the joint.<\/p>\n<p>The American \u201cparents of the children of the sixties\u201d did not know how to face the rage of their children.\u00a0 They could face the utopian enemies of Fascism and Communism (both the same, really) and not wince, but they could not face their own tantrum-throwing children.\u00a0 They wanted to be loved.\u00a0 So they stepped aside and let the intellectuals \u2013 the one\u2019s who taught their children &#8211; deconstruct everything they had fought and died for.\u00a0 Progressivism (the next utopian enemy) stands upon the ruins.<\/p>\n<p>So <em>xiety<\/em> concerns more than things that anyone has; that is, things that can be taken away.\u00a0 It encompasses whatever one might have had if circumstances had been different.\u00a0 In different circumstances, the children of the sixties could have had \u201cheroism\u201d.\u00a0 In different circumstances, the parents of the sixties could have had \u201cthe \u2018honor\u2019 emblazoned on Moses\u2019 tables\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>Anxiety<\/em> is the fear of losing the life that you never had, but could have had, if only \u2026 if only \u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first step to radical evil is anxiety.\u00a0 When I see an an- words, like anhydrous, which means \u201cwithout water\u201d, I conjure that the word means \u201cwithout \u2018something\u2019\u201d.\u00a0 Anxiety, then, would be \u201cwithout xiety\u201d, where \u201cxiety\u201d means \u201canything that you can lose\u201d.
