The Greeks came to see that \u2018the flesh\u2019 was opposed to \u2018reason\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the Old Testament, \u2018the flesh\u2019 was opposed to \u2018the Providence of God\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>[Notably, Schoonenberg did not mention the older opposition, flesh versus blood &amp; bones.
