The (pre-2012) feminist theologians (most discussed in Wiley\u2019s Chapter 7) \u201cname\u201d the fundamental sin through deduction.\u00a0 If \u201cgender is culturally constructed\u201d and if \u201cgender-bias distorts personal relations and social systems\u201d, then the fundamental sin must be related to gender (\u201csexism\u201d) and culture (\u201cpatriarchy\u201d).<\/p>\n
If this is so, feminists are free to explore the historic question of the origin of male privilege in the ancient world.\u00a0 Wiley dutifully spends pages on this, plus the next deduction:\u00a0 Jesus should be interpreted in light of these findings.<\/p>\n
