{"id":173,"date":"2013-02-15T01:25:59","date_gmt":"2013-02-15T01:25:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=173"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:55","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:55","slug":"thoughts-on-original-sin-by-tatha-wiley-2002-6e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=173","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Original Sin by Tatha Wiley (2002) 6E"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reinhold Niebuhr (d. 1971) saw \u201canxiety\u201d (or better, \u201cexistential anxiety\u201d) as the reaction to the situation of personal and social sin formulated above.\u00a0 His focus is on the situated individual (who is contextualized by theology).<\/p>\n<p>Anxiety belongs to the realm of the situation.\u00a0 It directly correlates to Liberation Theology\u2019s milieu of personal and social sin (that is contextualized by Original Sin<sup>ME<\/sup> (ME = in the modern era).<\/p>\n<p>Anxiety situates \u201cone\u2019s own stance towards the milieu of personal and social sins\u201d when that stance is \u201cegoism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEgoism\u201d is an act of the imagination.\u00a0 \u201cEgoism\u201d is the feeling of me-first.\u00a0 \u201cEgoism\u201d fantasizes that \u201cI can protect me, promote me, survive by me-alone, and so forth\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cwill to power\u201d finally contextualizes anxiety.\u00a0 The \u201cwill to power\u201d uses words, tools and appeals to manipulate the me-in-the-situation of anxiety(egoism).<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the individual\u2019s experience of the situation that is contextualized by Original Sin<sup>ME<\/sup> may be written as a nested term:\u00a0 will to power(anxiety(egoism)).<\/p>\n<p><em>An Archaeology of the Fall <\/em>complements Niebuhr\u2019s insights by noting that speech-alone words define \u201creality\u201d and in the process \u201cconstruct society\u201d regardless of the consequences.<\/p>\n<p>One cannot even call our inclination to use words, tools and appeals for assuaging the anxieties that well up through our fragile egos; \u201ctemptation\u201d.\u00a0 It is part of our nature.\u00a0 We know not what we do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reinhold Niebuhr (d. 1971) saw \u201canxiety\u201d (or better, \u201cexistential anxiety\u201d) as the reaction to the situation of personal and social sin formulated above.\u00a0 His focus is on the situated individual (who is contextualized by theology).
