{"id":171,"date":"2013-02-14T01:25:03","date_gmt":"2013-02-14T01:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/75.103.96.165\/blog\/?p=171"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:02:55","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:02:55","slug":"thoughts-on-original-sin-by-tatha-wiley-2002-6d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=171","title":{"rendered":"Thoughts on Original Sin by Tatha Wiley (2002) 6D"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How could one re-image the central idea of Liberation Theologies in light of <em>An Archaeology of the Fall<\/em>?\u00a0 Some sort of fusion of the idea of the \u201csin of the world\u201d and the concept of the Fall appears attractive.<\/p>\n<p>I do not speak as a theologian, merely as the fictional entity that I regard myself.<\/p>\n<p>A transition from hand-speech talk to speech-alone talk entailed a change in semiotic characteristics in the way we talk.\u00a0 The human Lebenswelt changed from a world when talk seemed referential to a world where talk created referentiality.\u00a0 Rather than naming \u201cthings\u201d or \u201cpatterns\u201d that you could point to (with hand-speech talk), humans created \u201csymbolic orders or systems of names\u201d that generated \u201csocial constructions\u201d (with speech-alone talk).<\/p>\n<p>To me, this transition recalls the same sensibility expressed by Liberation theologians in regards to Original Sin<sup>ME<\/sup> (Original Sin in context of the modern era) as Social Sin.<\/p>\n<p>The sensibility can be expressed in terms of nestedness.<\/p>\n<p>The transition created the possibility for the production of symbolic orders that (as in chapter 12C of <em>An Archaeology<\/em> \u2026) inspired social constructions of \u201cwhat they name\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>These social structures promoted personal sin, instituted injustice, and created a field of biases that directed the individual away from God (and toward the social constructions of that particular symbolic order).<\/p>\n<p>What puts the situations containing these social constructions into context?<\/p>\n<p>Answer: The Doctrine of Original Sin<sup>ME<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the transition in our Lebenswelt may be portrayed as a nested set:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat puts these into context\u201d(social constructions(transition to speech-alone))<\/p>\n<p>Expressed in terms of Liberation Theology:<\/p>\n<p>Original Sin<sup>ME<\/sup>(personal and social sin(Bible texts describing \u2018sin of the world\u2019))<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How could one re-image the central idea of Liberation Theologies in light of An Archaeology of the Fall?\u00a0 Some sort of fusion of the idea of the \u201csin of the world\u201d and the concept of the Fall appears attractive.
