{"id":1113,"date":"2014-04-09T01:06:14","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T01:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=1113"},"modified":"2014-10-07T23:01:17","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T23:01:17","slug":"man-and-sin-by-piet-schoonenberg-1964-1-4n1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/?p=1113","title":{"rendered":"Man and Sin by Piet Schoonenberg (1964) 1.4N1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summary of text [comment] page 22<\/p>\n<p>[I now want to consider these &#8220;objects&#8221; that &#8220;bring individual in to relation&#8221; or &#8220;bring individuals into organization&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>All objects follow the logic of Lacan\u2019s <i>point de caption<\/i>.\u00a0 I suppose that point de caption is very similar to the shoelace analogy.\u00a0 Like shoelaces, point de captions can become either knotted or undone.\u00a0 In the former case, the garment has no give.\u00a0 In the latter case, the garment comes apart.<\/p>\n<p>I prefer to use a similar analogy: buttoning.\u00a0 The advantage is that objects may constitute either the buttonhole or the button.<\/p>\n<p>For suprasovereign religions, the object exists in the realms of normal context<sub>3<\/sub> and possibility<sub>1<\/sub>. The object is thus inspirational; that is, inspiring creativity<sub>3<\/sub> and desire<sub>1<\/sub>.\u00a0 The object is relational.\u00a0\u00a0 Creativity and desire support relations.\u00a0 One can think of the &#8220;buttonhole<sub>3<\/sub> (say, a think<sup>divine<\/sup><sub>3<\/sub>)&#8221; as bringing &#8220;an actuality<sub>2<\/sub> (say, a virtuous act<sub>2<\/sub>)&#8221; into relation with &#8220;the possibilities inherent in the button<sub>1<\/sub> (say, an exercise in conscience<sup>free<\/sup><sub>1<\/sub>)&#8221;.\u00a0 This actuality is &#8220;an act of buttoning<sub>2<\/sub>&#8221; that does far more than meet some organizational goal.\u00a0 It builds character and relations.<\/p>\n<p>For infrasovereign religions, the object exists in the realm of actuality<sub>2<\/sub>.\u00a0 The object is thus dictatorial.\u00a0 It dictates a result.<\/p>\n<p>So let me go backwards and consider &#8220;the buttoning<sub>2<\/sub>&#8221; as &#8220;an organizational goal<sub>2<\/sub>&#8221; and &#8220;the actions required to accomplish the goal<sub>2<\/sub>&#8220;.\u00a0 The buttonhole no longer reflects a context.\u00a0 It is merely an actuality.\u00a0 The button no longer reflects a possibility.\u00a0 It is merely an actuality.<\/p>\n<p>Technical creativity and occasionally hard work are required.\u00a0 But these feel like &#8220;conformity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Conformity?<\/p>\n<p>The think<sup>group<\/sup> established what the buttonhole and button are.\u00a0 One is not brought into relation.\u00a0 One is brought into organization.]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summary of text [comment] page 22 [I now want to consider these &#8220;objects&#8221; that &#8220;bring individual in to relation&#8221; or &#8220;bring individuals into organization&#8221;.
