Spike (1923-1966), then executive director of the National Churches&#8217; Commission on Religion and Race.&nbsp; Author of <em>The Freedom Revolution and the Churches,<\/em> he calls for a political solution.&nbsp; The &#8220;whites&#8221; need to expiate their guilt.&nbsp; Or, something like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0301 To me, if this doesn&#8217;t sound like <em>a new American fiction,<\/em> I don&#8217;t know what does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pity <em>the reverend<\/em> who has <em>a control file at the disposal of someone with money and power<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pity <em>the fellow who speaks up,<\/em> then is served a lawsuit about some&#8230; how shall I say it?.. <em>episode of sexual liberation,<\/em> whether true or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0302 This is <em>the literary genre<\/em> <em>of manufacturing consent<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stereotypes<sub>2am<\/sub> are like esse_ce.&nbsp; They constitute a new (virtual) wilderness where human dispositions<sub>1a<\/sub> are subject to literary and cinematic manipulation.&nbsp; Our attitudes<sub>2af<\/sub> are like the essence that stands between human structure<sub>3a<\/sub> and our evolved dispositions<sub>1a<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The content-level category-based nested form with the normal context of making influence<sub>3a<\/sub> is also like esse_ce.&nbsp; Making influence<sub>3a<\/sub> is the normal context for a cognitive wilderness<sub>2a<\/sub> arising from the potential of &#8216;selling a product or agenda&#8217;<sub>1a<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp; Both the normal context<sub>3a<\/sub> and the potential<sub>1a<\/sub> are sign-interpretants of a sign-vehicle, a perspective-level actuality<sub>2c<\/sub> that stands behind the curtain<sub>2b<\/sub> (so to speak) of stereotypes<sub>2am<\/sub>, attitudes<sub>2af<\/sub>, expert self-regard<sub>2bm<\/sub> and the literature of&#8230; <em>what?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What<\/em> is <em>the appropriate label for this new American genre?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0303 Chapter 48 concerns <em>critical race theory<\/em> and <em>the destruction of American identity<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can I locate <em>the sought-after label<\/em> within these concerns?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0304 Jones writes about <em>the subversion of Catholic identity in the ethnic neighborhoods of Philadelphia<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intelligensia<sub>2bm<\/sub> &#8211; the literary classes &#8211; now refer to <em>the people who used to live in those neighborhoods<\/em> as &#8220;white&#8221;<sub>2bf<\/sub>.&nbsp; <em>The unspoken accusation<\/em> is that these &#8220;whites<sub>2am<\/sub>&#8221; are <em>the reason why &#8220;blacks<sub>2am<\/sub>&#8221; cannot make a living<\/em>.&nbsp; It is their attitudes<sub>2af<\/sub>.&nbsp; <em>The unspoken accusation<\/em> covers up <em>the reality that the federal government&#8217;s welfare programs have subsidized broken families for generations<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0305 <em>The only promoted remedy<\/em> is for the federal government to step in and take <em>affirmative action<\/em>.&nbsp; This generates new expertise and constitutes the (il) of big(il)lib.&nbsp; <em>Freedom of thought for modern expertise<sub>3b<\/sub><\/em> is mirrored by <em>an expertise that defines the system<sub>3b<\/sub><\/em> through <em>the fiction of legal decrees<\/em> standing for <em>enforcing morals<sub>2b<\/sub><\/em> according to <em>the dictates of &#8216;an opportunistic modern situational ethics&#8217;<sub>1b<\/sub>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0306 Here is a comparison of the Lost Generation&#8217;s and Affirmative Action&#8217;s situation level nested forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slide65.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slide65.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10975\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slide65.png 540w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Slide65-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Each term seems to be a variant of the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happens when both these situation-levels are reflections in the mirror of&#8230; what?&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0307 If Jones states that <em>critical theory<\/em> is <em>the nemesis of American Identity,<\/em> then is something else standing in <em>the mirror of this nemesis?<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>0296 What happened to American literature?
