Its normal context<sub>3<\/sub> and potential<sub>1<\/sub> stand in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Exodus story where Joshua crosses the Jordan River in the pursuit of conquest<sub>2am<\/sub> is like matter.&nbsp;&nbsp; The Massachusetts&#8217; Bay Colony<sub>2af<\/sub> is like form.&nbsp; This matter and form goes with the Bible<sub>2a<\/sub>.&nbsp; The Bible<sub>2a<\/sub> is <em>the Puritan&#8217;s thing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ancient Greek stories of Arcadia and the Genesis tale of Paradise<sub>2am<\/sub> are like matter.&nbsp; The Virginian colonies<sub>2af<\/sub> are like form.&nbsp; Just as in ancient Greece, slaves can do the labor on the plantations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0095 At the end of Chapter 1, the author draws a contrast&#8230;
