reason\u2019?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0250 Let me start with an example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My example will be the words \u201cbeing of reason\u201d<sub>2a<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This example belongs to&nbsp;<em>our current Lebenswelt,<\/em>&nbsp;since both \u2018being\u2019 and \u2018reason\u2019 are explicit abstractions.&nbsp;&nbsp;The terms are juxtaposed in a way that violates the laws of non-contradiction.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018A being\u2019 is&nbsp;<em>an actuality whose existence cannot be denied<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;It is a fact.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Reason\u2019 is&nbsp;<em>the determination of a ratio<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;This determination is a second, contradicting actuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0251 Why does the juxtaposition entail a contradiction?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A being is one element.&nbsp;&nbsp;A ratio compares two elements.&nbsp;&nbsp;What is the other element that \u2018a being\u2019 is compared to?&nbsp;&nbsp;It must be&nbsp;<em>something regarding the manner of being<\/em>&nbsp;because it is weighed against being.&nbsp;&nbsp;But, it does not exist in the manner of being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0252 OK, maybe I can accept that there is a contradiction between two actualities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are the two actualities?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first is&nbsp;<em>being<sub>2<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;(\u2018what is encountered\u2019).&nbsp;&nbsp;The second is&nbsp;<em>the determination of a ratio<sub>2<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A single actuality contains these two contradicting actualities.&nbsp;&nbsp;It does so by serving as the terminus for the ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide45.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide45.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide45.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide45-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0253 At this point, to me,&nbsp;<em>the intrinsic unity<\/em>&nbsp;becomes apparent.&nbsp;&nbsp;The being<sup>in_reason<\/sup><sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>what the encountered being ought to be<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, the encountered being<sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>an extrinsic, linguistically formulated, self-contradiction<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>The being of reason<sub>2a<\/sub><\/em>becomes&nbsp;<em>a single, unified nonbeing<\/em>&nbsp;composed of two actualities: the word \u201cbeing\u201d, pointing to existence or&nbsp;<em>what is<\/em>, and the determination of a ratio or reason, pointing to the constellation of&nbsp;<em>what ought to be<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The unification must be&nbsp;<em>a nonbeing<\/em>&nbsp;because&nbsp;<em>the logic of non-contradiction<\/em>&nbsp;cannot reduce it to&nbsp;<em>its component actualities<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide46.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide46.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10519\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide46.png 600w, https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide46-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>0254 This suggests that nonbeings resist the logic of non-contradiction.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yet, beings<sup>in_reason<\/sup>&nbsp;are actual when they occupy the slot designated for secondness in the category-based nested form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0255 This also suggests that the two component actualities belong to nested forms.&nbsp;&nbsp;In other words, each of the actualities comes with a normal context and possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0256 What could these nested forms be?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I figure that the normal context<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<em>being as<\/em>&nbsp;<em>what is there<sub>2<\/sub><\/em>&nbsp;might be realness<sub>3<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Perhaps, it<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;is existence<sub>3<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The underlying possibility<sub>1<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a basis for realness<sub>1<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Realness<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;brings \u2018being (what is)<sub>2<\/sub>\u2019 into relation with&nbsp;<em>a potential basis for realness<sub>1<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suppose that the normal context<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;for the determination of a ratio<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is rationality<sub>3<\/sub>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The underlying possibility<sub>1<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a basis for the ratio<sub>1<\/sub><\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;So, rationality<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;brings \u2018the determination of a ratio<sub>2<\/sub>\u2019 into relation with&nbsp;<em>a potential basis for the ratio<sub>1<\/sub><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0257 The two nested forms&nbsp;<em>intersect in the realm of actuality<\/em>, as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide47.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" the formal intellect<sub>2c<\/sub>.&nbsp;Judgment<sub>2c<\/sub>&nbsp;virtually contextualizes the reckoning by the efficient intellect<sub>2b<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0259 Judgment<sub>2c<\/sub>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a relation between \u2018what it is\u2019 and \u2018what it ought to be\u2019<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The formal intellect virtually designs the normal contexts of the intersection and sets the parameters for the potentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0260 For Baroque scholastics,&nbsp;<em>the basis of rationality<\/em>&nbsp;was captured in the logic of non-contradiction.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is why the being<sup>in reason<\/sup><sub>2a<\/sub>&nbsp;could not exist, even though it could be regarded in the manner of being.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>The basis of realness<\/em>&nbsp;was existence.&nbsp;&nbsp;Facts went with existence.&nbsp;&nbsp;Fiction did not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0261 The interscope for \u2018being of reason\u2019 in Baroque scholasticism ended up looking like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raziemah.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Slide48.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" Ideas<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Age of Ideas<\/em>&nbsp;emphasizes&nbsp;<em>the axis of true versus false<\/em>, throwing&nbsp;<em>the axis of true versus deception<\/em>&nbsp;into shadow.&nbsp;&nbsp;Baroque scholasticism faded from view, along with fictions like beings<sup>in_reason<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the one hand, once&nbsp;<em>the elevation of one axis<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>the occlusion of the other axis<\/em>&nbsp;became ingrained as habit, then modern philosophy and science follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, modern literature explores the negations, privations, relations and self-contradictions in which Baroque scholasticism sleeps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0263&nbsp;<em>Modernism<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a world with a fixed perspective<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Actuality<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>every thing<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Actuality<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>all there is<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;For example, modernism elevates human dispositions.&nbsp;&nbsp;It occludes human conscience.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thus, the term \u201csin\u201d, which coincides with&nbsp;<em>the intersection of human action and thought<\/em>, follows the same trajectory as \u201cbeings of reason\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0264&nbsp;<em>Modernism<\/em>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<em>a world of deception<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;Surely, facts may paint a false picture.&nbsp;&nbsp;Facts depend on one\u2019s fictions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Indeed, facts will support \u2018the current intersection of existence and rationality\u2019 until&nbsp;<em>the moment when deception turns realness into deprivation and negates rationality with its own distorted valuations<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Will we then return to beings of reason as explanations for negation, privation, relation and self-contradiction?&nbsp;&nbsp;Or will we return to beings<sup>in_reason<\/sup>&nbsp;in order to locate the intrinsic unity between fact and fiction?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>0265 There is more to actuality than every thing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Charles Peirce opens a path to postmodern scholasticism.&nbsp;&nbsp;Deely and Novotny opened a vista into&nbsp;<em>where we have
